Dear Parents of Under 7s,
Jerry Bradley here - North Kildare Minis Coordinator
Having successfully coerced a number of you across that invisible ‘fence’ and onto the rugby pitch to help (much appreciated) with training of our youngest cohort of NK rugby players, I wanted to follow up to all U7s parents on a conversation I began with a small number of you.
At the end of this season our U7s (if born in 2014) will over the summer transition to U8s and carry on up through the age groups and in September we will welcome a new cohort of U7s (born in 2015 and after). When these players arrive the Junior Committee (tirelessly headed up by Sinead Griffin our Junior Chairperson and currently working on a plan to introduce U6s in September!) frantically search for coaches among the new parent cohort.
The only qualification required to make the leap over the fence is that you are a parent of a child playing rugby at that age group – this will ensure that coaches move on with their kids and age group.
If you enjoy having fun and don’t take yourself too seriously this will add greatly to your coaching CV and aligns with our NK rugby ethos which has long been “Fun, Friends and Rugby” - in that order.
More coaches at each age group = better fun + best friends + enhanced learning of the game for players (each 6 to 8 players should ideally have a coach).
Leinster Branch run regular minis coaching courses which NK will reimburse – they currently consist of an online module + pitch session (when this is possible under Covid restrictions).
All our Coaches are Garda vetted as per IRFU Child Welfare Guidelines.
If you are even tentatively tempted but still apprehensive, I would encourage you please to send me a text 087 7810396.
Regards,
Jerry
